A Letter from the Editor: Our Bar & Restaurant Transformation

As you may have noticed, things are different around here. Welcome, friends, to Bar & Restaurant!

2020 is going to be a big year. We’re celebrating the 35th anniversary of the Nightclub & Bar Show—35 years of developing the preeminent bar, restaurant and nightlife conference and expo, evolving along with the industry!

And last night our digital platform, Nightclub.com, underwent its own transformation.

In fact, the change to our site is much more than just a new name and color palette—it’s a brand-new identity. Moving forward, our digital presence will align precisely with the Nightclub & Bar Show conference program. As you explore this new site—and I hope you take time to do so!—you’ll find that it’s organized by our Six Pillars (formerly five before we added Technology as its own pillar).

We seek to provide hospitality venue owners, operators and managers access to the information, experts and strategies that provide a competitive edge in this intensely competitive business. Our fresh identity, Bar & Restaurant, better communicates this mission and our position within the industry.

For the past several years, we’ve been turning more of our focus to the food side of F&B. We’ve explained the importance of tying together the front and back of house, analyzed food trends, and shared guest expectations of food transparency.

The Nightclub & Bar Show has been developing the F&B Innovation Center over the past few years, highlighting the latest in food trends and kitchen technologies, hosted by Chef Brian Duffy and a team of carefully selected, highly respected chefs.

In 2020, we’re introducing NxT, an all-new expo floor area that will introduce Nightclub & Bar Show attendees to the next phase of F&B. NxT will showcase 40 cutting-edge hospitality startups incubated by the American Nightlife Association, LA Fund, 500 Startups and Intel. Attendees will have the opportunity to test drive these brand-new and sorely needed innovations and provide feedback on the expo floor.

This is all to say that in 2020, our commitment to bringing you the necessary resources to thrive will come more sharply into focus.

We’re excited for our transformation into Bar & Restaurant and to share our evolution—and that of the industry we love—with you. Our mission, serving those who serve others, remains the same; how we accomplish our mission has improved.

Welcome to the new year. Welcome to Bar & Restaurant.
