Hendrick’s Gin fans, rejoice! Your holiday season just got a bit better. The creators of “a most unusual” and “delightfully peculiar” gin have announced that their new, incredibly limited-edition expression Orbium is now available in the United States.
Hendrick’s Orbium, which derives its name from the word “orb,” the plural of “Orbis” and the Latin for “circle,” is a reinterpretation of the house’s original expression. Hendrick’s Gin is already world-renowned for its rounded style, and Hendrick’s Master Distiller Lesley Gracie stays true to that crucial characteristic while adding quinine, wormwood and lotus blossom extracts.
“Orbium, the first-ever new Hendrick’s expression, is available in the U.S. and is intended for those in the trade industry who have been loyal to Hendrick’s from the very beginning,” says Paige Parness, senior brand manager for Hendrick’s Gin. “It’s an important step in our innovation process as we continue to grow our brand. We’re eager to bring new additions to our loyal on-premise base here in the United States, and perhaps even new innovations in the future for the off-premise.”
The distillates that make up Hendrick’s Gin also feature in Orbium, but Master Distiller Lesley Gracie took several steps in a new direction for this limited-edition batch. The new expression features classic gin cocktail flavors:
- Quinine, found in the tonic of a Gin & Tonic
- Wormwood, found in the vermouth of a Martini
Lotus blossom is used to balance the distillates of the original Hendrick’s expression, the quinine, and the wormwood, creating an exquisite, bright gin experience with a surprisingly long finish.
Orbium is no limited-release gimmick. This new Hendrick’s expression is intended to take gin and cocktails in a new direction. As anyone familiar with the Hendrick’s ethos knows, exploration is one of the brand’s pillars. See below for the Orbium Martini.
Orbium Martini

- 2½ parts Orbium
- ½ part Dolin Blanc
- Lemon twist to garnish
- Cucumber slice to garnish (optional)
Combine ingredients in a Martini glass and stir. Garnish with a lemon twist and (optional) cucumber slice.
