Icon Bob Dylan Debuts Heaven's Door Whiskeys, His First and Only Brand Partnership

Heaven's Door, intended to be a collection of super-premium, American craft whiskeys, makes its debut today. One intriguing detail of this new brand is that the Heaven's Door portfolio will constantly evolve. Master distillers and blenders from all over the United States will collaborate with the brand to update the collection.

The most compelling detail, however, may not be about the whiskey itself but the minds behind it. Heaven's Door is the first—and only—consumer brand with which legendary artist Bob Dylan has ever aligned himself. Dylan has partnered with Spirits Investment Partnership (SIP) to bring this brand to market.

This incredible partnership, the story goes, came about when SIP CEO Marc Bushala learned Dylan had registered an application to trademark "Bootleg Whiskey." Bushala sought to collaborate with Dylan and Heaven's Door was born.

Dylan and Bushala committed to the idea that this new brand must blend art and craft. The packaging features Dylan's artwork to reinforce that message.

Heaven's Door was intended to be eclectic, diverse and intriguing from the outset. Rather than find and work with but one master distiller to create one expression, Dylan and Bushala sought to work several master distillers and blenders to offer several signature whiskeys and series. Expect to see a nod to Dylan's trademark application next year: the Bootleg Series, limited-run bottlings of rare stocks and specialty blends that will feature Dylan's paintings on the labels.

Debuting today are three Heaven's Door expressions:

Tennessee Straight Bourbon: A Tennessee bourbon made that makes use of 30% small grains. Aged in new American Oak barrels for just under 7 years.

Straight Rye Whiskey: This rye is finished in toasted oak cigar barrels sourced from Vosges, France.

Double Barrel Whiskey from Tennessee: Three types of whiskey come together to create this blend. Hand-toasted, new American oak barrels are used for a second aging, which takes one year.

National pre-orders for Heaven’s Door can be via the brand's website: www.HeavensDoor.com. To start, California, Florida, Illinois, New York, Tennessee and Texas will see these whiskeys on shelves toward the middle of this month. More markets will be added over time.
