Tequila Recipes for National Tequila Day

Naitonal Tequila Day is Monday, July 24, and we've rounded up a collection of tequila recipes to help your bar or restaurant celebrate this weekend. We've got everything from margaritas (the number-one on-premise cocktail) to zero-proof options to unique tequila recipes.

Pineapple Jalapeno Margarita 

Zero-proof

Ingredients:

2 oz Seedlip Garden 108

0.50 oz Agave Syrup

1 oz Pineapple Juice

0.50 oz Fresh Lime Juice

2 slices Jalapeno

Dehydrated Pineapple Wheel

Directions:

Lightly muddle all ingredients in a shaker. Add ice and shake. Apply salt to the rim of a rocks glass, fill with ice and strain shaker over ice. Garnish with a dehydrated pineapple wheel.

Spice Hibiscus Margarita

Zero-proof

Ingredients:

2 oz Seedlip Spice 94

0.50 oz Agave Syrup

1 oz Hibiscus Tea

0.25 oz Fresh Lime Juice

Star Anise

Spiced Sugar-Salt (combine 4 tbsp Kosher salt, 2 tbsp granulated sugar & 1 tsp each of cinnamon & nutmeg)

Directions:

Lightly muddle all ingredients (except sugar-salt) in a shaker. Add ice and shake. Apply half-rim of Spiced Sugar-Salt to a rocks glass, fill with ice and strain shaker over ice. Garnish with star anise.

Grove Margarita 

Zero-proof

Ingredients:

2 oz Seedlip Grove 42

1 tbsp Agave Syrup

0.50 oz Fresh Lime Juice

Lime Wheel

Directions:

Add all ingredients in a shaker with ice and shake. Apply half-rim of salt to a rocks glass, fill with ice and strain shaker over ice. Garnish with a lime wheel.

Charlotte’s Dilemma

Ingredients:

1.5 oz mijenta blanco tequila 

1 oz bonal 

.75 oz agave syrup 

.75 oz Fresh Lime Juice 

Directions:

Muddle four slices cucumber and two whole strawberries. Shake. Double strain. Highball. Top with club soda. Garnish with lavender sprigs.

Stemilt Cherry Margarita

Ingredients:

Ice

Juice of 1 Lime

1-2 teaspoons of light agave nectar

1 ounce triple sec

1 1/2 ounce repasado tequila (one full shot from standard size shot glass)

Orange Seltzer

Stemilt Dark Sweet Cherries, pitted and halved

Directions:

In a shaker, combine ice, lime juice, agave nectar, triple sec, and tequila and shake vigorously. Fill a 12oz. glass ½ way with ice. Add 2 pitted & halved cherries and press lightly against side of glass to release some juice. Then add into drink. Pour contents from shaker into glass. Top off with orange seltzer.

Laguna Blanca

Ingredients:

2 oz THAI CHILI INFUSED MILAGRO TEQUILA*

1 oz FRESH COCONUT PUREE

½ oz COINTREAU

½ oz LEMONGRASS SYRUP**

¾ oz LIME JUICE

Directions:

For the Thai Chili infused Tequila, add a handful of seeded and chopped Thai chilis to 1 liter of tequila. Let infuse for 1 day, then strain and bottle.

For the lemongrass syrup, in a saucepan, add 1 cup of chopped lemongrass for every quart of simple syrup. Simmer over medium heat for about 10 minutes. Remove from heat and let steep for an additional 10 minutes. Fine strain, then bottle and refrigerate.

For the cocktail, shake all ingredients and strain into a salt-rimmed rocks glass with 1 large ice cube. Garnish with a kaffir lime leaf.

Vita Coco Margarita

Ingredients: 

2 oz Don Julio 

1 oz Vita Coco Original Coconut Water

1 oz Pineapple Juice

1/2 oz Coconut Puree

1/2 oz Lime Juice

Directions:

Combine all ingredients in a cocktail shaker and shake vigorously with ice to chill.

Here Kitty, Kitty

Ingredients:

2 oz Alma Del Jaguar Blanco 

2 oz Watermelon Juice/Puree 

.75 oz Lime .75 oz agave syrup (1prt water/1 prt agave) 

Small handful Cilantro Root (approx. 5 1 inch sprigs)

2 oz Club Soda 

2 dashes grapefruit bitters 

Directions: 

Muddle cilantro root in cocktail shaker. Add all ingredients. Gentle 3-5 shakes with ice (want most of dilution from club soda). Salt Rim: Cracked Black Pepper, Lime Zest, Himalayian Pink Salt Rim. Garnish with small watermelon triangle.

Noche Negra

Ingredients:

1 part Cantera Negra Silver Tequila

1 part Espresso (or cold brew concentrate)

.75 part Cantera Negra Café Coffee Liqueur

.25 part Simple syrup

Directions:

Combine all ingredients in a cocktail shaker with ice. Shake vigorously. Double strain into a chilled coupe or martini glass.

Fizzy Azul

Ingredients:

2 oz Flecha Azul Blanco Tequila

1 oz Club Soda

2 oz Ginger Beer

Squeeze of Fresh Lime Juice

Directions:

Pour ingredients over ice into a glass of your choice. Add a squeeze of lime. Garnish with a fresh rosemary sprig.

Rigor Mortis

Ingredients:

.25 oz Agave Syrup

.5 oz Reposado Tequila  (Arette)

1.5 oz Mezcal Espadin  (Banhez)

6 dashes Regans’ Orange Bitters 

Garnish: Grapefruit Twist

Directions:

Stir ingredients over ice; strain over a big rock in a double rocks glass.
