THRōW Social Expands Experiential Concept, Finds Revenue of $1 Million Monthly in Florida

High school math teacher turned entrepreneur Ginger Flesher-Sonnier, founder of The Ginger Companies – which includes experiential concepts such as Escape Room Live locations and Kick Axe Throwing venues – is finding major success with THRōW Social, an experiential bar, restaurant and entertainment complex.

THRōW Social is billed as a competitive social venue that features an abundance of interactive games, chef-driven cuisine, a mixologist-led beverage program and weekly live entertainment. The idea is to be more than just a bar and restaurant. They want to provide a playful, fun atmosphere for friends new and old alike.

THRōW Social currently has one location in Washington, D.C. and it opened a new venue in Delray Beach, Fla. in January 2022.

The new THRōW Social Delray Beach location is open to families with children by day and adults 21 and over beginning at 9 p.m. nighty. The 12,000 square foot indoor-outdoor venue features VIP cabanas in addition to DJs and live bands, axe -throwing, LED ping pong, darts and more – all of which is made more exciting by a 22 foot video wall.

It’s all situated in an elevated, tropical chic setting that has become popular for dog-friendly dining and brunch, where a multitude of generations are served, in addition to corporate functions and game day events.

Revenues Exceeding $1 Million Monthly

Since its opening in January 2022, the THRōW Social concept in Delray Beach has seen wild success with revenues exceeding $1 million monthly, so the company is currently scouting additional locations throughout the Sunshine State.

“South Florida has spoken and has really responded extremely positively to our unique brand of fun,” explained Sonnier. “We've been thrilled with the positive reception to THRōW Social Delray Beach and are already in the process of scouting several new locations as well as developing new concepts to introduce to market.”

Sonnier said she relocated from the northeast U.S. to Lighthouse Point, Fla. during the pandemic and became a permanent South Florida resident, due to the region’s more lenient restaurant regulation classifications during COVID-19.

During the pandemic – while THRōW Social Washington D.C. and several of her Kick Axe locations in N.Y.C., Philadelphia and Washington, D.C. all endured government shut-downs due to COVID-19 restrictions – it was a challenging time for Sonnier. Because her facilities offered in-person activities as an entertainment component to its service offerings, the venues did not qualify for the Restaurant Revitalization Fund nor the Shuttered Venues Grant, she said.

“We were stuck in a situation that led to our having to close most of our facilities for what we felt were unnecessarily extended periods of time, waiting for these policies to change,” said Sonnier. “There is no denying that Florida has been so much more receptive to our needs as hospitality operators, and we will continue to expand our footprint in this market indefinitely.
