Break Me Off a Pizza That! Happy National Pizza Day!

Today, March 8, 2016, we celebrate a national hero and national treasure – pizza. Yes, I know that our nation didn’t invent pizza but our love, hunger for, and consumption of this perfect food has made it as American as apple pie, moonshine, apple pie moonshine, and bourbon. So, happy National Pizza Day!

According to numbers website Statistics Brain, 3 billion pizzas are sold each year and this beloved food generates $32 billion annually. Americans, on average, consume 46 slices of pizza every year, 93% of us eat a minimum of 1 slice of pizza per month, we eat 350 slices of pizza every second, and I, for one, feel we can do even better in 2016 because I believe in all of us. An impressive 65% of the 70,000 pizzerias in America are independently owned, and 9,000 of those are located in New York.

Pizza is a food that every bar, restaurant and even nightclub should have pizza on the menu. It fulfills a multitude of guest needs and serves as an excellent food for special events. Depending on your food capabilities, you can become either a pizza destination, a late-night snack venue, or at least a bar with a relationship with a local pizzeria that allows delivery (which keeps patrons in your establishment). You'll have the opportunity to learn more about revenue-generating bar foods like pizza by attending the 2016 Nightclub & Bar Show in Las Vegas. Just enter code SAVE30BARNEWS when registering for a discount of $30 on your pass.

World Pizza Cup Champion Tony Gemignani, who has spoken at previous Nightclub & Bar Shows, explains pizza and cost succinctly:

“Pizza is one of the most profitable foods in the industry. It’s controllable; the food cost is great.”

Tony has 2 fantastic pizza restaurants in Nevada, one in Las Vegas and another in Henderson, under the Pizza Rock name. Attend the show in March and you'll be able to give his award-winning pizza a taste!

We can eat to that! Cheers!
