The hit show, “Keeping Up with the Kardashians,” is aptly named. You’d practically have to hire an intern just to stay up-to-the-minute on the various dramas surrounding the reality-star family. So when Kim Kardashian announced she was tying the knot and began showing off a 20-karat Minus 5
diamond ring, Minus 5 Ice Bar in Las Vegas saw a great opportunity. The bar itself has a love affair with ice far beyond what’s in a glass. From the walls to the glasses, the bar’s entire environment is made of ice.

In honor of the engagement, the bar commissioned Ice Occasions to create a replica of Kardashian’s ring, carved completely out of ice and weighing nearly 500 pounds. Guests will be able to snap photos beside the sculpture when it’s displayed at Minus5 locations in Mandalay Place and Monte Carlo Resort & Casino throughout 2011.

“(The ring) has been publicized through our PR firm, plus social-media outlets,” explains Noel Bowman, director of operations for Minus 5. “We also have the support of MGM Resorts, and they are sharing it through their channels as well.”

For guests, no visit to the ring would be complete without trying the coinciding cocktail, Ice Ice Baby, a $12 mixture of Belvedere Black Raspberry vodka, pineapple juice and coconut. Minus 5 sends as many as 40 across the bar each night.
