Shu Fa from Nachtmann Ideal for Spirits
The fastest growing beverage categories in the United States? Craft beer and brown spirits like bourbon, rye, and Scotch and Irish whiskeys, per a recent survey by the Beverage Information Group. Today’s consumers have diverse, discerning palates that crave a premium beverage experience right down to the glassware.
Shu Fa, new from German manufacturer Nachtmann, is fine glassware whose bold design enhances popular craft brown spirits. Modern, artistic, stunning, yet approachable, Shu Fa was inspired by the gentle, but strong calligraphic ink paintings of Chinese mountain rock landscapes. The design, by Mao Churong and Gong Yining, students at the Central Academy of Fine Arts in Beijing, was the winner of the 2015 NEXTGEN design competition sponsored by Nachtmann.
The NEXTGEN competition takes place at design schools around the world, seeking young talent to participate in a collaboration that blends originality with tradition and creative enthusiasm with skilled craftsmanship – much like the approach craft distillers use when creating their blends. Students are invited to develop ideas and prototypes for products that are versatile, lively, sophisticated, affordable and reflect Nachtmann’s “Luxury Everyday” standard.
The nature-inspired design of Shu Fa features stunning presentation and a substantial hand feel that exudes luxury. The glassware accentuates the art of beverage presentations with brilliant and clear crystalline glass combined with a heavy sham that provides the ideal foundation for premium cocktails and signature drinks. Shu Fa is strong and durable with heightened fracture-resistance and is 100 percent dishwasher safe. The pattern is available in both a long drink and old fashioned whiskey.
