Poll: The Tipping Landscape

bar & restaurant news polls

We wanted to know—how's tipping been in your bar or restaurant—and you answered! The results are in from our January poll.

Tipping has become a hot-button issue in the industry as of late. We even covered tipping in December in an article. Tipping hit a high during the pandemic, fueled by diners' good will toward bar and restaurant workers. Many establishments were also only offering takeout, so diners funneled their extra funds into bigger tips on everything from takeout to delivery.

In the last few months, "tip fatigue" has set in for consumers as they are faced with the option to tip on the smallest transactions or on services that didn't require any, well, service.

The good news is, this fatigue doesn't seem to be affecting the bar and restaurant market as tipping remains at an average of 15-20% for the majority of poll respondents (56.52%). Above average tipping came in second with 26.09% of the vote.
