Weekly Podcast Roundup: November Edition

Welcome to the first installment of the newest feature we're bringing to Nightclub & Bar each week. We have the privilege of working with some of the smartest minds in the industry and we want to make sure their voices are heard beyond our annual conference. This week, we're sharing two of our favorite former and returning presenters of NCB as they sit down with unique individuals with great perspectives.

Bartender at Large:

Erick Castro sits down with Tom Walker (formerly of The American Bar at the Savoy and Bacardi Legacy Global Champion 2014) to discuss why so many bad cocktails still exist. They reference the Australian Bartender's article 'If this is the Golden Age of Bartending, asks Tim Philips, why do so many drinks suck?' which is another good read. They address where new or young bar staff should start with so much knowledge to learn today. Hint: Start by being good to people—they don't forget how you made them feel. Castro and Walker then jump into why consistency is so key to serving good drinks and how everyone needs a mentor.

Duffied Live:

Brian Duffy chats with a very ambitious man pursuing a passion project of talking with 10,000 people for an hour apiece. It relates well to Erick Castro's podcast theme of focusing on the person in front of you and getting past the "projection" that most people push out to the world. Connecting with each other is key in this business, and during this episode of Duffified Live you'll learn about Rob's 10k Friends.
