Boardroom Spirits releases 'A' and 'P' American apple and pear brandies - What's Shakin' week of September 25

Award-winning distillery Boardroom Spirits has launched a pair of American brandies made in the eau de vie style. Kicking things off alphabetically, “A” is an apple-centric brandy distilled from Red Delicious apples grown a mere 20 miles west of Boardroom Spirits’ distillery at Frecon Farms. Staying true to the European method of distillation, each whole apple is used after passing an inspection and having impurities removed. This American apple brandy is clear with subtle, sweet and crisp apple on the nose, a silky smooth, mineral feel that’s light and dry on the palate, and a clean, smooth finish with spice fall apple notes.

“P” is available in two distinct versions, Barlett and D’Anjou, each made with their namesake pear varietals. Barlett is the bolder of the two pear brandies, with a nose of fresh cut hay, crisp morning air and classic pear. D’Anjou is soft and subtle on the nose with notes of late harvested pears. Whereas “P” Bartlett is light and medium-dry with bright, crisp and fresh-cut pear on the palate, “P” D’Anjou is light-bodied, semi-dry and juicy, and delivers flavors of autumn spices. All three brandies are expected to sell out, so make your inquiries and purchases now.

2017 Woodford Reserve Master's Collection Cherry Wood Smoked Barley - What's Shakin' week of September 25

Since 2006, whiskey aficionados have salivated over Woodford Reserve’s annual Master’s Collection creations. We suggest you grab a handkerchief because you’re going to drool over the 2017 Woodford Reserve Master’s Collection: Cherry Wood Smoked Barley. This release represents one of the first Kentucky bourbon expressions to be made using malted barley exposed to cherry wood smoke.

The result of Master Distiller Chris Morris’ selection of this modified grain and expert craftsmanship is deep caramel, brown sugar and dark chocolate layered with notes of cherry jam and “nutty crumbles dusted with wood spice” on the nose. On the palate, Cherry Wood Smoked Barley delivers intense flavors of smoked almond and malt with cherry pie filling and a bit of caramel, finishing long with the smoked almond notes fading to cherry jam. Weighing in at 90.4 proof, Cherry Wood Smoked Barley will be available in select markets in the United States and overseas starting in November.

“Wild” is an understatement.

Heineken Lager Explorations H41 Wild Lager - What's Shakin' week of September 25

Heineken has always seemed restless to us, but in a good way. They’re constantly seeking to innovate and better the beer world, and they’ve now brought a first-of-its-kind beer style to the United States. Heineken has launched a limited edition Wild Lager called H41, brewed using a rare yeast discovered in the forests of Patagonia. The biggest part of the story is that this rare yeast, found in the beech forest of Patagonia, is the “mother” of Heineken’s A-yeast. As the most dedicated of beer world students will tell you, A-yeast’s make up is a secret closely guarded by Heineken.

H41 is a win-win proposition for your bar as it will appeal to beer drinkers who are constantly on the lookout for what’s new and what’s next and guests who are less keen to step out of their comfort zones. This limited edition Wild Lager, part of Heineken’s Lager Explorations series, is characterized by a fuller, more intense taste, and flavors of spice balanced by subtle fruit notes.
