Mezcal Cocktail Recipes

National Mezcal Day is Saturday, October 21, and this smoky agave spirit is perfect to take your cocktail menus into the fall. Plus, mezcal is a great spirit to introduce your tequila-loving guests to who may be looking to try something different.

We've collected a number of mezcal recipes to add to your cocktail menus!

Mezcaloma

Ingredients:

2 oz Dos Hombres Mezcal

Grapefruit soda

.25 oz Agave Syrup

.5 oz Lime Juice

Directions:

Add Mezcal, Agave, and Lime Juice to your shaker and vigorously shake. Pour into a rocks glass and fill with Grapefruit Soda. Garnish with a dehydrated grapefruit slice.

Invierno Ilegal

Ingredients:

2 oz Cinnamon-infused Ilegal Reposado 

¾ oz Guava syrup

¾ oz Fresh lime 

 

Directions:

For the cinnamon-infused reposado, add 2 sticks of Mexican cinnamon to one 750ml bottle of Ilegal Mezcal Reposado and let sit for 6 hours. For the guava syrup, add 1 cup of sugar to 1 cup of guava juice. Bring to a boil and boil until sugar is dissolved. Let cool. For the cocktail, add all ingredients to a shaker and shake vigorously until chilled and strain into a coupe glass. Garnish with grated cinnamon.

Legacy

Ingredients:

1 ½ oz Mezcal Montelobos

¾ oz Ancho Verde liqueur

¾ oz spice syrup

¾ oz fresh lime juice

½ oz egg white

Directions:

Pour all ingredients in the shaker with ice and shake thoroughly. Pour into a half black salt and dried lime rimmed rocks glass with ice cubes. Garnish with dried lime, place inside a smoking box, and serve.

Desolas Sol

Ingredients:

1.5oz Desolas

0.25oz Campari

0.25oz Lemon juice

1 oz Tangerine juice

0.25oz Agave nectar

Top of tonic water

Directions:

Combine Desolas Mezcal with fresh tangerine juice, a touch of Campari, lime juice and agave, and top with premium tonic water.

Salt n Pepa

Ingredients:

2 oz Del Maguey Vida Mezcal

1 oz Red Bell Pepper Agave

.5oz Tomatillo Juice

.75 oz Lime Juice

1 slice fresno chile

Citrus salt

Directions:

Add all ingredients to a shaker tin and add ice. Shake aggressively and double strain into citrus-salt rimmed rocks glass. Garnish with rosemary spiked through a fresno slice.

Mezcal Orange Sour

Ingredients:

2 oz. Mezcal

1 tsp. The Perfect Purée Orange Zest, thawed

1 oz. fresh lime juice

3 dashes of Angostura bitters

1 egg white

Rosemary sprig

Directions:

In a shaker without ice, combine Mezcal, lime juice, orange zest, and egg white. Shake for 7-10 seconds. Add ice and shake for 30 seconds. Strain and serve in a chilled glass. Garnish with Angostura bitters and rosemary sprig.

Norista Zero

Ingredients:

2 oz Cut Above Mezcal or Agave Blanco

1 oz Organic Lime Juice

.75 oz 1:1 Agave Syrup (Combine equal parts water and Organic Agave Nectar)

1 Orange Peel

Directions:

Combine all ingredients in a shaker along with swath of orange peel. Shaking the drink with the orange peel incorporates the oils and bitterness of the peel into the drink. Strain into a salt rimmed glass and garnish with a lime wheel.
