Meet the #NCB2021 Chefs: Chad Rosenthal

This Philly native eats, breathes, sleeps and creates all things food and especially barbecue. A self-taught chef who has been in the kitchen since age five, Chad Rosenthal found his calling in the world of barbecue, having won a series of competitions and events over the last 15 years. He is also a successful restaurateur, having opened a handful of BBQ, Comfort Food and Vietnamese restaurants in the Philadelphia area, including fan-favorite, The Lucky Well.

Chef Chad was cast on Season 9 of Food Network Star and returned as a fan Favorite in Season 10. He was a finalist on Chopped Grill Masters Napa and is currently in development on several new TV concepts. Chad is constantly on the hunt for new flavors and inspirations and loves to combine Asian cuisine with American BBQ. He is at his core an experimental chef who cooks by his experiences, his soul and his taste buds, and he’s bringing all of that creativity to this year’s Food & Beverage Innovation Center (FBIC).

We sat down with Chef Chad for a rapid-fire interview round about all things FBIC.

What’s your favorite part about FBIC?

I love to chat with bar owners that are genuinely interested in upping their culinary game. I also love to see my fellow FBIC chefs (especially the ones I only get to see once a year) and especially THIS YEAR!

If the other chefs had to describe you in three words, what would they be?

THE. BEST. CHEF.

What’s your “role” in the group?

I think ‘The Jokester’ describes me perfectly.

Do you guys have any secret competitions going on against each other back there?

The only competitions we have are shots at the Double Down Saloon and the number of last-minute tattoos before dinner...

Favorite FBIC memory?

We have so many! They always start at The Double Down and we always find good eats! You'll find us off the strip at Joyful House or Chubby Cattle, just to name a few!

What’s one thing you want people to learn when they visit the FBIC?

Simple is always more consistent, and consistent is always better. 2020 has made me simplify everything I create.

What are you most looking forward to at Nightclub & Bar Show this year?

Just being there and interacting with others that want to learn. It was a long, hard year so we will live this one up!

You can find Chef Chad Rosenthal at the Food & Beverage Innovation Tuesday June 29 – Wednesday June 30 during Nightclub & Bar Show 2021. Catch his live cooking demonstration on Wednesday from 3:30pm – 4:00pm.
