On Sunday, February 12th, the Philadelphia Eagles will take on the Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl LVII. The Super Bowl is almost an official holiday, a day where we can all gather together and celebrate America by eating obscene amounts of chips, downing a beer or two, and watching 4+ hours of football with an often-bizarre halftime show thrown into the middle.
If your bar or restaurant has televisions and a good viewing setup, Super Bowl Sunday can turn into a big business. Or, you can help facilitate customers’ at-home viewing parties with takeout deals and bundles. Looking for ways to bring in more customers to watch the game at your bar? Check out our 10-best Super Bowl promotions. These quick and easy promotions are great for engaging customers and encouraging new business.
1. Super Bowl Bingo
Create a bingo game using elements of the Super Bowl such as ads, musical performances, etc. and offer prizes to customers who get a bingo. This can be a fun way for customers who are less interested in the actual on-field game to stay engaged and have fun.
2. Jersey Night
Encourage customers to wear their Eagles or Chiefs jerseys and offer discounts or prizes for the best-dressed fans. Or, you can have a jersey contest for best random or throw-back jersey.
3. Tailgate-style Buffet
Offer a tailgate-style buffet with classic Super Bowl foods like wings, nachos, and sliders. This is a great way to create that classic tailgate feel but with restaurant-quality food and drinks. Just make sure you have the proper equipment to keep the food heated and fresh throughout the entirety of the game.
4. Game-day Giveaways
Give away merchandise such as hats, t-shirts, or foam fingers to customers who order a certain amount of food and drinks. This can be a cheap and effective way to send customers home with some of your merch to help spread your brand.
5. Super Bowl Squares
Offer a Super Bowl Squares game where customers can purchase squares and win prizes based on the score at the end of each quarter. Squares is a fun game that you can play with a lot of people or just a couple. You can also charge money per square or play for free. The gist of the game is you set up a grid and people buy squares. If at the end of a quarter the cumulative score is the same as a square they own, they win a prize. You can find a more detailed breakdown here.
6. Pick the MVP
Offer a prize to customers who correctly predict the MVP of the Super Bowl. If you want to make it more challenging, you can have adjusted prizes given how long each player’s odds are. Here are the most recent odds.
7. Touchdown Deals
Offer discounts or special deals every time a touchdown is scored during the game. This will encourage fans to stay engaged, regardless of the score or which team is winning. Some fun ideas could be jello shots in the color of the team that scored or free swag with the purchase of a drink after a touchdown.
8. Specialty Cocktails
Create a menu of specialty cocktails inspired by the two teams playing in the Super Bowl. You can do it by colors (blue and green for the Eagles, red for the chiefs) or by mascot. For instance, the official drink of Philadelphia football is called the Eagle’s Nest and is made with gin and maraschino liquor.
9. Raffle
Offer a raffle after the game with a grand prize of a large-screen TV, a sizable gift card for customers, or something that’s valued enough to incentivize customers to stick around for the drawing. You can sell raffle tickets individually or give them away to any customers who order a minimum amount of food and drinks as part of this Super Bowl promotion.
10. Half-time Challenge
Offer a discount or a free drink to customers who correctly predict the score of the Super Bowl at half-time.
By implementing these promotions, your restaurant or sports bar can attract more customers and create a festive atmosphere that’s fun for everyone during the Super Bowl.
Don’t forget to spread the word and hype up your Super Bowl promotions with Super Bowl marketing materials so customers know where they can catch the game and have a great time.
